1st Day : Marrakech < Kasbah Glaoui Pacha & Ait Benhaddou < Skoura Oasis
Your 4 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start from your accommodation at 9am. On the first leg of the journey, you’ll travel through the high atlas mountains of Tizi N’tichka. Enjoy breathtaking views and explore the berber villages. Enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants that serve very fresh tajines, and barbecue meat lamb or beef. After the pass, leave the principal route to reach Kasbah Telouet ( Kasbah Glaoui Pacha of Marrakech ). Follow the lovely Ounila Valley to the Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit this fortified village, which has served as the setting for many worldwide films for years. It is effectively a living museum with a large number of residences. After, we leave towards Skoura oasis for an overnight stay in one of its tranquil lodges.
2nd Day : Skoura < Todra Gorges < Irrigation System < Desert Camp With Camel Trek
After your hearty breakfast, our journey continues southeast through beautiful landscapes arriving at Skoura oasis where you’ll meet our local guide for a visit that will allow you to explore restored family kasbah that dates back to the 17th century. It is a great opportunity to learn more about berber lifestyle, traditions and customs. Later on, we continue to Todra gorges where we will have our lunch and Take a walk through the Todra Gorges, where a 300m-deep fault splits the orange limestone into a deep ravine at some points just wide enough for a crystal-clear river and single-file trekkers to squeeze through. In the afternoon, we drive to Erg Chebbi where you will have your camels that will take you through the golden sand dunes, enjoy sunset and sip a cup of tea before joining for a dinner and berber ambiance in the campsite. ( Option to be driven to the camp by 4×4).
3rd Day : Nomads, Petroglyphs, Desert camp
In the morning, you’ll have a tour in the desert exploring the area. Visit Khamlia village, have tea with the nomads and wander around the rock engravings. Later, pry out for fossils. In the afternoon, to Erg Chebbi for another camel ride and enjoy a beautiful sunset again.
4th Day : Desert < Ziz Valley < Ifran < Fes
Wake early to admire the desert sunrise, take breakfast, then transfer out of the dunes by camel-back to rejoin your vehicle to take the road to Fes (or if you are traveling by 4×4, you can be collected at the camp). Your route today follows the course of the Ziz River, north, passing the Tafilalet region (which it irrigates), a region of verdant date palms bordering the Sahara. Pass through the spectacular Ziz River gorge before traversing the Middle Atlas Mountains (at approx. 1900m).
